Marat Muchanbetqasyuly Taschin (born April 8, 1960 in Aktyubinsk , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh diplomat and politician. He was his country's foreign minister from 2007 to 2009. He has been the Kazakh ambassador to Russia since February 2014.

biography

Marat Täschin studied at the Institute of Economics in Almaty and after graduating worked in the economics department of the Academy of Sciences and taught at the State University of Kazakhstan in Almaty. From 1987 to 1988 he did an internship at the University of London . After the political change in the Soviet Union and the independence of Kazakhstan, he worked for a short time at Al-Farabi University .

In 1992 Täschin began his political career with various posts in the presidential administration and ministries. From 1994 to 1995 he was the official advisor to President Nursultan Nazarbayev . 1995 to 1999 he was deputy head of the presidential administration. After that he was assistant to the president in matters of national security until 2001, as well as secretary of the Kazakh security council. From May to December 2001 he was chairman of the Kazakh secret service KNB . In January 2007 he was appointed Foreign Minister under Prime Minister Kärim Mässimow .

Täschin has been Kazakhstan's ambassador to Russia since February 11, 2014.
