Yerzhan Choseuly Qasychanow ( Kazakh Ержан Хозеұлы Қазыханов , Russian Ержан Хозеевич Казыханов / Yerzhan Chosejewitsch Kasychanow * 21st August 1964 in Alma-Ata , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh politician and former foreign minister of Kazakhstan.

biography

He completed his training at the State University of Saint Petersburg from 1981 to 1987. He then attended the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow in 1991 and then the Foreign Service Training Institute in the Indian capital New Delhi . In 1993 he attended the Foreign Service Training Institute in Washington, DC

From 1989 to 1995 he was, among other things, first and second secretary for political affairs in the Kazakh Foreign Ministry .

Between 1995 and 2000 he was an advisor to the Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan to the United Nations in New York City . From January 12th, 2009 Qasychanow was Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Austria . On April 11, 2011, he became Kazakhstan's new foreign minister after the presidential elections and the subsequent cabinet reshuffle.

Since September 28, 2012 he was an advisor to Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev . On September 17, 2014, he became Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United Kingdom . From April 24, 2015, Qasykhanov held the post of Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Ireland . He has been the Kazakh ambassador to the United States since February 15, 2017 .

Qasykhanov is married and has two children. In addition to Kazakh, he speaks Russian, English and Arabic.
