Qairat Qudaibergenuly Äbdirachmanow ( Kazakh Қайрат Құдайбергенұлы Әбдірахманов ; Russian Кайрат Кудайбергенович Абдрахманов , Kairat Abdrakhmanov Kudaibergenowitsch * 21st April 1964 in Panfilov , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh diplomat and politician.

Life

Äbdirachmanow was born on April 21, 1964 in the town of Panfilow, in today's Almaty region. From 1981 to 1987 he studied at the Faculty of History of the Kazakh National Al-Farabi University in Almaty. He then worked as a lecturer at the Kazakh National Technical University in Almaty, before obtaining his PhD from 1991 to 1993 at Al-Farabi University. After his training, he worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the European Affairs Department. Between 1994 and 1998 he was a division head or deputy head in the divisions for Asia, Asia, the Middle East and Africa, and Europe and America.

From 1998 to 1999 he was Director of the Department for Bilateral Cooperation, before Abbirakhmanov held the post of Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2001. Between February 2001 and April 2003 he served as Minister and Counselor of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the United Kingdom . He was appointed Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Israel in 2003 and again Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan from 2006 to 2007. After this activity, Abbirachmanov was Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Austria and permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna , including the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Until his appointment as Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Austria, he was the Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the OSCE. From March 2011 to November 2013 he was again ambassador to Austria and permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna.

On December 28, 2016, he was appointed Foreign Minister by Nursultan Nazarbayev . He held this post until December 26, 2018.

Private

He is married with two children and speaks English and Russian. He completed his training at the national Kazakh Al Farabi University in Almaty .
