Qanat Saudabaev
Qanat Bekmyrsauly Saudabayev ( Kazakh Қанат Бекмырзаұлы Саудабаев , Russian Канат Бекмурзаевич Саудабаев / Kanat Saudabayev Bekmursajewitsch * 1946 in Almaty area ) was from September 2009 to April 2011 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan .
Life
Qanat Saudabaev was born in the Almaty region in 1946 . He graduated from the Institute of Culture in Saint Petersburg and the Academy of Social Sciences in Moscow .
In 1991 he became envoy of the Kazakh SSR to the Soviet Union. In autumn 1991 he was appointed Soviet ambassador to Turkey by Mikhail Gorbachev . A few weeks after the collapse of the Soviet Union , Qanat Saudabaev became Kazakhstan's ambassador to Turkey between 1994 and 1996. In 1994 he was in the meantime Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, before becoming Ambassador to the United Kingdom from 1996 to 1999 and thus also to Norway , Sweden and Ireland . From 1999 to 2000 he was head of the Chancellery of the Kazakh Prime Minister.
He was Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United States from 2000 to 2007. On September 4, 2009, he replaced Marat Täschin as Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan. He held this office until April 11, 2011.
Qanat Saudabaev is married and has three children. In addition to Kazakh and Russian, he also speaks German , English and Turkish .
