Bolat Bajekenow

Bolat Äbdirachmanuly Bajekenow ( Kazakh Болат Әбдірахманұлы Баекенов , Russian Булат Абдрахманович Баекенов , Bulat Abdrachmanowitsch Bajekenow * 21st November 1942 in Guryev , Kazakh SSR ) is a former Kazakh politician. He was Chairman of the National Security Committee from 1991 and 1993 and Minister of Interior of Kazakhstan from 1994 to 1995.

biography

After completing his studies, he first worked in Saran for the Voluntary Society in Support of the Army, Air Force and Fleet , before joining the Soviet Army between 1961 and 1962 . He then returned to Saran and worked for the local authorities and as the first chairman of the municipal Komsomol . In 1971 he became the second secretary of the Regional Committee of the Komsomol in Karaganda , he also completed further studies at the Faculty of History at the State University of Karaganda .

From 1973 Bajekenow worked for the Soviet secret service KGB . From 1977 to 1980 he worked as the head of the department of administrative organs of the Karaganda Regional Committee of the Communist Party. In 1980 the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan decided to appoint him as deputy head of the KGB in the Alma-Ata region. Between 1982 and 1985 he worked for the KGB in Moscow and between 1985 and 1987 he was head of the KGB in the Kokshetau region . In 1986 he became vice-chairman of the KGB of the Kazakh SSR, before re-heading the KGB in the Alma-Ata region from 1990 to 1991.

After Kazakhstan's independence from the Soviet Union, Bajekenow was installed in October 1991 by the Kazakh President as the first chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan , the Kazakh secret service. From December 1993 to October 1994 he was the secretary of the Security Council. From October 1994 to November 1995 Bolat Bajekenow held the post of Kazakh Interior Minister. In March 1997 he was appointed head of the President's Security Service. He resigned from this post in 2001.
