Karim Qaschymqanuly Mässimow ( Kazakh Кәрім Қажымқанұлы Мәсімов , Karim Qaschymqanuly Masimov , Russian Карим Кажимканович Масимов , Karim Kaschimkanowitsch Massimov, scientific. Transliteration Karim Kažimkanovič Masimov * 15. June 1965 in Tselinograd , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh politician and former Prime Minister of his country. He has been chairman of the National Security Committee since September 2016 .

biography

Education and early years

Kärim Mässimow has degrees in economics and law. He studied in Moscow, at the Beijing Language and Culture University , at Wuhan University and at the Kazakh State Academy of Economics.

He began his career as an economic advisor to President Nursultan Nazarbayev and worked a. a. as an expert for economic issues in the Kazakh representation in Ürümqi (China). He was also the chairman of the Kazakh Foreign Trade Representation in Hong Kong . He later served as chairman of the Almaty Commercial and Finance Bank and the People's Savings Bank of Kazakhstan .

Political career

From January 2006 Mässimow was Minister of Transport and Communications and Vice Prime Minister, from April 2006 Minister of Economics and Budget Planning.

After Prime Minister Daniyal Akhmetov resigned from his post on January 9, 2007, President Nazarbayev nominated Masimov as his successor. Parliament elected him Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan on January 10, 2007.

On September 24, 2012, Masimov resigned as Prime Minister of Kazakhstan at his own request. His successor was the former Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Akhmetov . Kazakhstan's President Nazarbayev announced that Mässimov would head the presidential administration.

After Akhmetov resigned from the office of prime minister in early April 2014 without giving a reason, Nasimov was reinstated in this post by Nazarbayev. Since September 8, 2016, he has been chairman of the National Security Committee .

Kärim Mässimow is chairman of the board of directors at the Kazakh state fund Samruk-Kazyna ( Russian Самрук-Казына ).

Private

Mässimow is married and has three children. He is a Sunni Muslim . He is fluent in Kazakh , Russian , English , Chinese , Arabic and Uighur .

Kärim Mässimow is involved in sports. He is president of the Kazakh Muay Thai Association.
