Äkeschan Maghschanuly Qaschygeldin ( Kazakh Әкежан Мағжанұлы Қажыгелдин , Russian Акежан Магжанович Кажегельдин Akeschan Magschanowitsch Kaschegeldin * 27. March 1952 in Georgijewka , Sharma , East Kazakhstan ) was dated 14 October 1994 to October 1997 Prime Minister of Kazakhstan . According to official information, he gave up his post for health reasons, but many saw this as a protest against authoritarianism in Kazakhstan. He is currently the leader of the Republican Party of Kazakhstan , but lives in exile in the western world.

Digital Freedom Foundation relieved Qaschygeldin's ministry by building a "stable currency, banking system, and privatization program that led to growth." He worked on attracting foreign investment and helped lay the foundation for a stock market . ”In 1998 he was elected President of the Association of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan .

The publication of his book Kazakhstan: The Right of Choice created a political rift with President Nursultan Nazarbayev . The relationship worsened when Qashygeldin's twenty-first century peacemaking encouraged the reform of the Kazakh constitution regarding free elections . He has since been banned from participating in the presidential election for participating in an unauthorized demonstration. In April 1998, after he left the country, the Kazakh government charged him with tax evasion and illegally buying property in Belgium. He rejects the complaints and claims that they are motivated by Kazakhstan's politics .

Qashygeldin has accused President Nazarbayev of authoritarianism , nepotism and disinterest in violating human rights .
