Gutkeled
The Gutkeled (variants: Gut-Keled, Guthkeled, Guth-Keled) were a family or a clan ( Latin generatio ) of the Hungarian nobility. A number of Hungarian noble families descend from them. At the beginning of the 14th century, the Gutkeled belonged to the influential oligarchs of the Hungarian minor kingdoms .
The original source about the origin of the Gutkeled is the Gesta Hunnorum et Hungarorum by Simon Kézai :
“Sed postea, tempore Petri regis Kelad et Gut intrant tres frateres ex gente Svevorum procreati. De castello Stof sunt nativi. "
“But then, during the reign of King Peter, Kelad and Gut, three brothers of Swabian (also possible translation: Swedish ) origin immigrated . You were born in Stof Castle. "
The castle "Stof" is probably a corruption of "Stauf" and denotes either Staufen Castle in Staufen im Breisgau or Hohenstaufen Castle in Württemberg . The mentioned king is Peter Orseolo of Hungary (king from 1038 to 1041 and from 1044 to 1046).
