The local railway Böhmisch Leipa – Niemes was a railway connection in today's Czech Republic , which was originally built as a state-guaranteed local railway by the Austrian Local Railway Company (ÖLEG). It connected Bohemian Leipa (today: Česká Lípa) with Niemes (today: Mimoň) in northern Bohemia . The line was sold to ATE in 1898 and included in the North Bohemian Transversal Railway until 1900 .

On March 14, 1883, the Austrian Local Railway Company received "the right to build and operate a standard-gauge local railway from the Böhmisch Leipa station of the priv. Bohemian Northern Railway via Alt-Leipa and Reichstadt to Niemes with a branch from Reichstadt to the sugar factory in Neureichstadt " granted.

The line was opened on November 1, 1883. The operation was initially carried out by the ÖLEG itself, and from 1886 by the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB). With the nationalization of the ÖLEG on January 1, 1894, the line finally became the property of the Austrian state.

On June 13, 1896, the Aussig-Teplitz Railway (ATE) received the concession for the North Bohemian Transversal Railway from Teplitz to Reichenberg . The use of part of the local railway Böhmisch Leipa – Niemes was also stipulated by law. The sale of the local railway Böhmisch Leipa-Niemes to ATE was finally approved by law on December 21, 1898, when the purchase price was 1,300,000 florins . On December 29, 1898, the purchase agreement came into effect and the local railway Böhmisch Leipa – Niemes was now part of the network of the Aussig-Teplitz railway.

Until the completion of the North Bohemian Transversal Railway, however, it took until 1900. Niemes received a new representative train station northwest of the village to enable the continuation of the line in the direction of Reichenberg. In Böhmisch Leipa, too, the old local train station was abandoned in favor of a new building. On August 5, 1900, the Bohemian Leipa – Niemes connection went into operation, and on September 11, 1900, the entire line to Reichenberg went into operation.

The old local railway line in Niemes was initially retained for passenger and freight traffic. As a result of the nationalization of ATE, the line was transferred to the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) in 1923 . This finally gave up the passenger traffic on January 1, 1932.

The route gained special importance in freight traffic from March 1945, when a military airfield was built near Niemes by the German Wehrmacht . After the Second World War it became part of the newly established Ralsko military training area . The operation of the military connection did not end until 1992 when the Soviet Army troops stationed there since 1968 left the area.

Even today, the route is still used for freight traffic. A sawmill at the end of the route continues to receive wagon loads as required.
