Mars Fasyluly Ürkimbajew ( Kazakh Марс Фазылұлы Үркімбаев , Russian Марс Фазылович Уркумбаев Mars Fasylowitsch Urkumbajew * 23. November 1939 in Alma-Ata , Kazakh SSR , † 18 February 2012 in Taras ) was a Kazakh politician .

Life

Mars Ürkimbayev was born in Alma-Ata in 1939 . He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics at the Kazakh Institute of Chemical Technology in 1962 .

He began his professional career as an assistant at the Kazakh Institute of Chemical Technology before going to a Moscow university as a doctoral student . He then worked again at the Kazakh Institute of Chemical Technology from 1969 to 1973. Between 1973 and 1991, Ürkimbayev was the rector of the Building and Irrigation Institute (now Taras State University) in Jambul . After his time as university rector, he was head of the regional election commission in Jambul and deputy chairman of the regional executive committee in Jambul. After Kazakhstan gained independence, he held the post of head of the regional administration of the South Kazakhstan region from 1992 to 1993 . He was also the chairman of the regional department of the Kazakh Academy of Sciences and in February 1994 he was appointed Minister of Economy of Kazakhstan in the cabinet of Sergei Tereshchenko . From 1994 to 1998 he headed an international fund before serving as President of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan for ten years. Between 1999 and 2001 he acted as chairman of the Employers' Association of the Republic of Kazakhstan and for the following three years he was president of Kazphosphate and a member of the board of directors of kaspi bank . He then worked at the Taras State University.

Urkimbayev died on February 18, 2012 in Taras.
