The State Mukhtar-Äuesow University South Kazakhstan ( Kazakh М. О. Әуезов атындағы Оңтүстік Қазақстан мемлекеттік университеті , Russian Южно-Казахстанский государственный университет имени М. О. Ауэзова ) is a university in Kazakh Shymkent .
history
The establishment of the university goes back to a decision of the Council of People's Commissars of the Soviet Union , with which the Technological Institute for Building Materials was founded on June 19, 1943 . The reason for this was the shortage of skilled workers caused by the evacuation of many industrial companies from the European part of Russia to Central Asia . In the first academic year, 150 students attended the institute, which had two faculties. These were taught by 18 teachers, including experts from the People's Commissariat for the building materials industry.
In 1957 the institute was renamed the Kazakh Technological Institute . Since 1964 it has been called the Kazakh Institute of Chemical Technology . In March 1998, the institution was elevated to the status of a university and was called the Technical University of South Kazakhstan from that time . In the same year the university merged with the Humanitarian University, which was founded in 1968. Since then the university has been called the Muchtar Äuesow State University of South Kazakhstan , named after the Kazakh writer Muchtar Äuesow .
