Maschit Esenbayev

Maschit Töleubekuly Jessenbajew ( Kazakh Мәжіт Төлеубекұлы Есенбаев , Russian Мажит Тулеубекович Есенбаев ; born April 28, 1949 in Pavlodar , Kazakh SSR politician ) is a Kazakh politician.

Life

He studied at the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute , where he graduated in 1972.

After graduation, he worked as an economist at the Economic Planning Research Institute of the State Planning Committee of the Kazakh SSR. From 1975 to 1979 he worked for the State Planning Committee of the Soviet Union in Moscow and then for the next two years he was a research assistant at the Research Institute for Economic Planning of the State Planning Committee of the Kazakh SSR. From 1981 he was a lecturer in Marxist-Leninist philosophy and political economy at the Pedagogical Institute in Karaganda and from 1989 deputy head of the planning and economic department of the Council of People's Deputies in Karaganda. In 1991 he was vice chairman of the Karaganda Regional Council of People's Deputies and chairman of the Karaganda Economic Committee.

After Kazakhstan gained independence in 1992, he became Deputy Head of the Karaganda Regional Administration and Chairman of the Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs. From December 1994 he held the post of Head of State Tax Inspectorate at the Ministry of Finance and First Deputy Minister of Finance. From September 1996 he was chairman of the State Tax Committee and from July 1997 he was appointed Äkim (governor) of the Karagandy region . From October 1999 Yesenbayev was in the cabinet of Prime Minister Qassym-Shomart Toqayev Finance Minister of Kazakhstan. On August 28, 2002, he became Minister of Economy and Trade and from 2003 to 2004 he was Assistant to the Kazakh President. On March 20, 2004, he was appointed Äkim of the Aqmola region . He held this post for around four years before becoming chairman of the Agency for the Protection of Competition in January 2008. From February 2012 to September 2013 he was Chairman of the Customs Control Committee of the Ministry of Finance. Afterwards, Yessenbajew went into business, from 2013 to 2014 he was an advisor to the CEO of Halyk Bank and since February 2014 he has been CEO of the Almex holding group.
