Bolat Shemishev

Bolat Bidachmetuly Schämischew ( Kazakh Болат Бидахметұлы Жәмішев , Russian Болат Бидахметович Жамишев Bolat Bidachmetowitsch Schamischew * 28. June 1957 in Altyn-Emel, Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh politician and economist.

Life

Bolat Schämischew was born on 1957 in the village of Altyn-Emel in what is now the Almaty region. In 1981 he graduated from the Kazakh Agricultural Institute with a degree in economics .

After graduating from college, he first worked in a state farm. From 1984 he worked as a doctoral student and later as an employee at the Kazakh Research Institute for Economics and Organization in the Agro- Industry Department. From 1992 to 1993 he was the vice-chairman of the Executive Committee of the Congress of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan. He then worked for the Kazakh National Bank , inter alia as Deputy Director of the Department of Economic Research and Forecasts and Director of the Department of Research and Statistics. After four years he left the National Bank and in July 1997 instead became director of the National Pension Agency, which reports to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. Just a few months later, in November of the same year, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection for the first time in the Kazakh government, to which he then served as Deputy Minister of Finance from March 1999. Between June 2001 and February 2002 he held the post of Deputy Minister of the Interior and then he was again Deputy Minister of Finance until February 2003

In February 2003, Shemishev became deputy chairman of the Kazakh National Bank. Subsequently, on January 6, 2004, he became Deputy Chairman of the Agency for the Supervision of the Financial Market. He headed this agency for two years before working for the Eurasian Development Bank from June 2006. On November 13, 2007, he was appointed Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan under Prime Minister Kärim Mässimow . On November 6, 2013, he moved as Minister from the Ministry of Finance to the Ministry of Regional Development, which he headed until its dissolution in August 2014. After that he was CEO of the Kazakh Development Bank until April 2019. Since February 25, 2019, he has also been the independent independent director of Tsesnabank , which was renamed Jýsan Bank two months later. He was fired from this position on June 26, 2020.

On April 17, 2020, he was elected President of the Board of Directors of the Kazakh Social Health Insurance Fund.
