Kazakh Academy of Sciences
The National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan ( Kazakh Қазақстан Республикасының Ұлттық Ғылым академиясы Qasaqstan Respublikassynyng Ulttyq Ghylym akademijassy , Russian Национальная академия наук Республики Казахстан Nazionalnaja akademija nauk Respubliki Kazakhstan ) is the national Academy of Sciences in Kazakhstan .
Among other things, the Fessenkow Astrophysical Institute is subordinate to the academy .
history
The history of the institution goes back to the establishment of a branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in Kazakhstan in 1932. The branch comprised the departments of botany and zoology. In November 1938, this branch was converted into a branch of the Soviet Academy of Sciences.
In August 1944 the leadership of the Kazakh Soviet Republic decided to push ahead with the establishment of its own Academy of Sciences. On June 1, 1946, the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR was finally established. Qanysch Sätbajew was elected the first president of the academy . In the following time, the facility was expanded further and further institutes and departments were added. At the beginning of the 1980s, the academy comprised a total of 31 scientific institutions.
On March 11, 1996, the Kazakh Academy of Sciences, the Kazakh Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Ministry of Science and New Technologies were merged into a single authority, the Ministry of Science - Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Three years later, the Academy of Sciences was separated from the Ministry again.

Since 1953 it is located in its current building on ul. Shevchenko 28 in Almaty . The building was designed according to the designs of the architect Alexei Shtusev . The building is a typical construction of the late socialist classicism , but it uses some oriental forms.
