Bauyrschan Älimuly Muchametschanow ( Kazakh Бауыржан Әлімұлы Мұхаметжанов , Russian Бауржан Алимович Мухамеджанов Baur Chan Alimowitsch Muchamedschanow * 26. November 1960 in Merki , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh diplomat and politician . He has been the Kazakh ambassador to Georgia since May 2018 .

biography

Muchametschanow was born in 1960 in the village of Merki in today's Shambyl region. He studied law at the Kirov Kazakh State University in Alma-Ata . After completing his studies, he initially embarked on an academic career and initially became a lecturer at the law faculty of Kirov University in Alma-Ata, where he obtained a doctorate in law in 1990 . In the following years he worked in various positions, including in the legal department, in the administration of the Kazakh President, before he was appointed Minister of Justice of Kazakhstan in 1997 .

From 2000 to 2002 Muchamechanow was Deputy Head of the President's Administration and from January 2002 to June 2003 Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, before he was again Deputy Head of the President's Administration until 2005. On October 14, 2005, Muchametschanow was appointed Minister of the Interior of Kazakhstan under Prime Minister Kärim Mässimow . Between 2009 and 2011 he was a member of the Kazakh Senate and from 2011 to 2013 he held the post of Governor of Mangghystau Province .

On March 26, 2013, Muchamechanov was appointed Kazakh ambassador to Lithuania . Since May 21, 2013 he has also been accredited as ambassador in neighboring Latvia . He has been Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Georgia since May 31, 2018 .

Bauyrschan Muchamechanow is married and has two daughters.
