Marat Bakytschanuly Beketajew ( Kazakh Марат Бакытжанұлы Бекетаев , Russian Марат Бакытжанович Бекетаев * 29. August 1977 in Chimkent , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh lawyer and politician . He has been Kazakhstan's Justice Minister since September 2016.

Life

Marat Beketajew was born in 1977 and graduated from the Kazakh State Law University in Astana in 1998 (Nur-Sultan since 2019) . In 2000 he received his Masters of Laws from the London School of Economics and Political Science in international business law .

After graduating, Beketayev first worked in the Kazakh Foreign Ministry as head of the department for the diplomatic missions of Kazakhstan. From August to December 2003 he was department head in the Kazakhstan Public Service Agency and from January to September 2004 he was advisor to the Chairman of the Public Service Agency. From 2004 to 2006 he was first deputy chairman and then chairman of the state-owned company Eurasian Center for training of civil servants.

From 2006 to 2007 he was advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and then advisor to Prime Minister Kärim Mässimow . From 2007 onwards, he held the position of Deputy Minister of Justice and from 2010 onwards, Beketayev was Executive Secretary of the Kazakh Ministry of Justice . On December 11, 2015, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since September 13, 2016, he was first Minister of Justice of Kazakhstan in the cabinet of Baqytschan Saghyntayev . He also remains Minister of Justice in the Mamin cabinet .
