Berik Imashev

Berik Maschituly Imaschew ( Kazakh Берік Мәжитұлы Имашев , Russian Берик Мажитович Имашев / Berik Maschitowitsch Imaschew ; born June 7, 1960 in Alma-Ata , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh politician .

biography

Berik Imaschew graduated from school in 1977 and then began studying at the law faculty of Lomonosov University in Moscow , which he graduated in 1982. He began his professional career as a trainee and civil servant at the Leningrad Public Prosecutor's Office and the Kazakh SSR Public Prosecutor's Office. From 1992 to 1993 Imashev worked for the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He then worked as an assistant at the public prosecutor's office in the then capital, Almaty , until 1994 , before becoming Deputy Chairman of the Kazkommertsbank Supervisory Board between 1994 and 1995 .

Between 1996 and 2002 he worked for several government agencies. From March 2002 to February 2005 Imashev was a member of the party presidium of the Democratic Party Ak Shol and in August 2008 he was elected to the Kazakh Senate . In the same year he was elected chairman of the Committee on Legislation and Legal Reform. Since 2011 he has also been chairman of the Constitutional Legislation, Judiciary and Law Enforcement Committee of the Kazakh Senate.

On January 12, 2012, Imashev was appointed Minister of Justice of Kazakhstan by decree of the Kazakh President . Since September 13, 2016, he has been chairman of the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
