Jerlan Turghymbayev

Jerlan Samanbekuly Turghymbajew ( Kazakh Ерлан Заманбекұлы Тұрғымбаев , Russian Ерлан Заманбекович Тургумбаев Jerlan Samanbekowitsch Turgumbajew * 14. August 1962 in Alma-Ata , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh politician . Since February 2019 he has been the Kazakh Interior Minister.

Life

Jerlan Turghymbayev was born in Alma-Ata in 1962 . He graduated from Kirov Kazakh State University in 1984 as a lawyer. He obtained a further degree from Al-Farabi University in 2003.

After completing his studies, he began his professional career as an officer in the criminal investigation department of the Interior Department of the Executive Committee of the City of Saran in Karaganda Oblast . From 1986 he worked in various positions at the police department of the Alatau district in Alma-Ata. Between 1993 and 1995 he was deputy head of the investigative department of the Almaty Police Department and then head of the internal affairs department of the Bostandyq municipality.

In 1996, Turghymbayev became the department head of the Main Tax Police Directorate of the State Tax Committee of Kazakhstan. He then briefly served as head of the investigative department of the Almaty Police Department, head of the Police Department of the Shetissu District and again deputy head of the Almaty Police Department. In 2000 he moved to the Kazakh Interior Ministry , where he was department head until January 2001. He then worked until February of the following year as the managing director of the Kazakh state company Kazatomprom , before working again in the Kazakh Interior Ministry. From March 2003, Turghymbayev worked as the head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of North Kazakhstan . He held this post until May 2006; he then returned to a position in the Ministry of Interior and in July 2006 he returned to Almaty, where he became head of the internal affairs department of the city administration.

In December 2012 he was appointed Deputy Minister of the Interior. Turghymbayev has been Kazakhstan's Interior Minister since February 12, 2019.
