The Fidget Cube (from English fidget for ' restlessness ', ' Zappelphilipp ' and cube ('cube') for the geometric cube shape ) is a multifunctional toy for children and adults that - similar to the previously published Fidget Spinner - is intended to reduce stress . According to the manufacturer, this should enable users to focus more on one thing and to concentrate better .

Details

The Fidget Cube is sold as a table toy for adults, weighs approx. 35 grams and has an edge length of approx. 3.3 cm. A different function is attached to each face of the cube. It is about:

  • Spin: A small disc that can be turned
  • Roller Ball: A small ball that can be moved in all directions
  • Worry Stone: A hand flatterer that helps reduce stress by rubbing
  • Flip: A small switch that can always be toggled back and forth
  • Joystick: A small joystick similar to the one found on the PlayStation's DualShock controller
  • Click: Five small buttons that can be pressed like a pen. Three buttons make a sound, two are quiet.

history

The Fidget Cube became popular in 2016 through a campaign on the US crowdfunding platform Kickstarter . Brothers Mark and Matthew McLachlan (Antsy Labs) created a video for YouTube to support the campaign. It went viral , reaching nearly 4 million views by 2017. The Kickstarter campaign made it into the top ten most successful Kickstarter projects to date with over 6.4 million US dollars . A total of 154,000 people raised money for this.

criticism

The Better Business Bureau gave it the worst F rating because manufacturer Antsy Labs failed to respond to 30 customer complaints. It also failed to respond to two Better Business Bureau questionnaires about its business practices.
