Hank Johnson

Henry "Hank" Johnson (born October 2, 1954 in Washington, DC ) is an American politician . Since 2007 he has represented the state of Georgia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Hank Johnson first attended Clarke College in Atlanta , Georgia. After studying law at the Thurgood Marshall School of Law and Texas Southern University in Houston, as well as being admitted to the bar, he began working in his new profession in Decatur in 1979 . Between 1989 and 2001 he also worked as a judge at the Magistrate Court.

Politically, Johnson became a member of the Democratic Party . Between 2001 and 2006 he served on the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners . In the 2006 congressional election he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the fourth constituency of Georgia, where he succeeded Cynthia McKinney on January 3, 2007 . Having been re-elected in all subsequent elections, including the one in 2018, he can continue to exercise his mandate in Congress today. His term of office is expected to run until at least January 3, 2021, with the option to run again in 2020. Johnson was an opponent of the Iraq war . He was a member of the Transport and Infrastructure Committee . He later served on the Armed Forces Committee and the Judiciary Committee and several sub-committees.

He is married and has two children. He lives privately with his family in Lithionia . Hank Johnson has had hepatitis C for years .
