Drew Ferguson
Drew Ferguson (born November 15, 1967 in West Point , Troup County , Georgia ) is an American politician . Since January 3, 2017, he has represented the state of Georgia in the US House of Representatives .
Career
From 1985 to 1988 Drew Ferguson studied dentistry at the University of Georgia . He then continued his education in this field until 1992 at the Medical College of Georgia . He later practiced as a dentist. He has also served on the boards of several organizations and associations such as the Lanier Memorial Hospital and the Capital City Bank Community . Since 1998 he has been a member of the Dental School of the Medical College of Georgia . He has also served on the board of the West Point 2100 Foundation , which is based in his hometown of West Point, since 2008 . He is also a member of several dental associations.
Politically, Ferguson joined the Republican Party . He was a member of the West Point Parish Council from 1997 to 1999, and served as mayor from 2007 to 2016. In the 2016 congressional election , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in the third constituency of Georgia against the Democrat Angela Pendley in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Lynn Westmoreland on January 3, 2017 , who was no longer running.
