John Randall Walker

John Randall Walker (born February 23, 1874 in Blackshear , Pierce County , Georgia , †  July 21, 1942 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1913 and 1919 he represented the state of Georgia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

John Walker attended Jasper Normal College in Jasper ( Florida ) until 1895 . After completing a law degree at the University of Georgia and being admitted to the bar in 1898, he began to work in his new profession.

Politically, Walker was a member of the Democratic Party . He was a member of the Georgia House of Representatives in 1907 and 1908 . In the 1912 congressional elections he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the eleventh constituency of Georgia , where he succeeded William Gordon Brantley on March 4, 1913 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1919 . The 16th and 17th amendments to the Constitution were passed there in 1913 . Since April 1917 the work of the Congress has also been shaped by the events of the First World War .

In 1918, John Walker was no longer nominated by his party for another term in the US House of Representatives. Then he withdrew from politics. He died on July 21, 1942 in his native Blackshear.
