Billy Lee Evans (born November 10, 1941 in Tifton , Tift County , Georgia ) is an American politician . Between 1977 and 1983 he represented the state of Georgia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Billy Evans attended the public schools of his home country and studied at the University of Georgia in Athens until 1963 . After a subsequent law degree at the same university and his admission as a lawyer in 1965, he began to work in Macon in his new profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party .

Between 1969 and 1976 he was an MP in the Georgia House of Representatives . In the 1976 congressional election he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the eighth constituency of Georgia , where he succeeded WS Stuckey on January 3, 1977 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 1983 . For the elections in 1982 he was no longer nominated by his party. After he left the US House of Representatives, Evans became vice president of a consulting firm. He is also a board member of the American Freedom Coalition . Billy Evans lives privately in Vienna ( Virginia ).
