Austin Scott (born December 10, 1969 in Augusta , Georgia ) is an American politician . He has represented the state of Georgia in the US House of Representatives since 2011 .

Career

Austin Scott is the son of an orthopedic surgeon and teacher. Until 1993 he studied at the University of Georgia in Athens . He then went into business and became President of Southern Group LLC and a partner in Lockett Station Group LLC . Politically, he joined the Republican Party . Between 1997 and 2010 he was a member of the Georgia House of Representatives . For 2010 he originally planned a candidacy for the office of governor . But he gave up on this project prematurely.

In the 2010 congressional election , Scott was elected to the US House of Representatives in the eighth constituency of Georgia in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Democrat James C. Marshall on January 3, 2011 , whom he defeated in the election. After four re-elections so far, his term in Congress is expected to run until January 2021, with the option of running again in 2020.

Austin Scott has a son with his wife Vivien. The family lives privately in Ashburn .
