Jody Brownlow Hice (born April 22, 1960 in Atlanta , Georgia ) is an American politician . He has represented the state of Georgia in the US House of Representatives since 2015 .

Career

Jody Hice attended Tucker High School until 1978 and then graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore ( Kentucky ) until 1982 . Then he studied until 1986 at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth ( Texas ) theology. He continued his studies at Luther Rice Seminary in Lithonia until 1988 . He then worked as a pastor. At times he was also the host of a religious radio broadcast. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In 2010 he applied unsuccessfully for a seat in Congress .

In the 2014 congressional election , Hice was elected to the US House of Representatives in Georgia in the 10th constituency in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Paul Broun , who was unsuccessful in the Republican primary for the US election, on January 3, 2015 Senate had run. Since he was confirmed in office in 2016, he will also serve in the 115th Congress of the United States, which meets on January 3, 2017 . His new legislative term runs until January 3, 2019 with the option of a further candidacy in 2018.
