The Troup County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is LaGrange .

The county is located in western Georgia and borders Alabama . It has an area of 1,155 square kilometers, of which 83 square kilometers are water surface and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Heard County , Coweta County , Meriwether County and Harris County .
history
Troup County was formed from Land of the Creek Indians on June 8, 1825 as the 70th county of Georgia. It was named after Governor George Troup .

According to the 2010 census, the then 67,044 inhabitants were distributed over 24,828 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.62 people per household. There are a total of 28,046 households.
70.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring) with an average size of 3.12 people. There were children under the age of 18 in 37.9% of all households and persons aged 65 and over in 24.5% of all households.
29.6% of the population were younger than 20 years, 25.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 27.3% were 40 to 59 years old, and 17.9% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 36 years. 48.1% of the population were male and 51.9% were female.
61.5% of the population identified themselves as whites, 33.4% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 1.6% as Asian Americans . 1.8% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.5% to several ethnic groups. 3.2% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
The average annual income per household was 42,545 USD , while 21.3% of the population lived below the poverty line.
