The Heard County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Franklin .

The county is located in the northwest, borders Alabama to the west and has an area of 780 square kilometers, of which 13 square kilometers are water and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Carroll County , Coweta County and Troup County .
The county is part of the metropolitan area of Atlanta .
history
Heard County was formed on December 22, 1830 from parts of Carroll County, Coweta County, and Troup County. It was named after Stephen Heard , a hero of the Revolutionary War.

According to the 2010 census, the then 11,834 inhabitants were distributed over 4,400 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.66 people per household. There are a total of 5,148 households.
71.8% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring) with an average size of 3.14 persons. There were children under the age of 18 in 36.2% of all households and persons aged 65 or over in 26.8% of all households.
