The Wilcox County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Abbeville .

Located a few miles south of the geographic center of Georgia, the county covers an area of ​​993 square kilometers, eight square kilometers of which is water, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Dodge County , Telfair County , Ben Hill County , Turner County , Crisp County , Dooly County and Pulaski County .

history

Wilcox County was formed on December 22, 1857 as the 124th County of Georgia from parts of Dooly County, Irwin County, and Pulaski County. It was named after General Mark Wilcox , a co-founder of the Georgia Supreme Court.
