The Butts County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Jackson , named after President Andrew Jackson .
geography
The county is located in central northwest Georgia and has an area of 492 square kilometers, of which nine square kilometers are water surface and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Newton County , Jasper County , Monroe County , Lamar County , Spalding County, and Henry County .
The county is part of the metropolitan area of Atlanta .
history
Butts County was formed on December 24, 1825 as the 64th County in Georgia from parts of Henry County and Monroe Counties. It was named after Captain Samuel Butts , an officer who was killed in the Indian War in 1812.
Worth seeing
Many historic buildings remain in Butts County. The Indian Springs Hotel from 1823, the Indian Springs Church from 1855, the courthouse from 1898 and the Old Flovilla School , which was in operation from 1885 to 1932.
Recreation area
Indian Springs Conservation Park is the oldest national park in the United States. The Muskogee Indians believed in the healing power of springs.

According to the 2010 census, the 23,655 inhabitants at that time were distributed among 7,881 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.70 people per household. There are a total of 9,357 households.
74.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring) with an average size of 3.13 persons. There were children under the age of 18 in 36.6% of all households and persons aged 65 and over in 26.7% of all households.
25.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 28.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 18.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 38 years. 52.9% of the population were male and 47.1% were female.
69.9% of the population identified themselves as whites, 27.3% as African American , 0.2% as Indians and 0.5% as Asian Americans . 0.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.3% to several ethnic groups. 2.5% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
The average annual income per household was 47,385 USD , while 17.8% of the population lived below the poverty line.
