The Terrell County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Dawson .

The county is located in central southwest Georgia, about 70 km to the west from Alabama and covers an area of ​​874 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers are water, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Sumter County , Lee County , Dougherty County , Calhoun County , Randolph County, and Webster County .

The county is part of the Albany metropolitan area .

history

Terrell County was formed on February 16, 1856 as the 113th County in Georgia from parts of Randolph County and Lee County. It was named after Dr. William Terrell , a member of Congress.
