The Liberty County is a county in the US state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Hinesville , named after Senator Charlton Hines .

The county is located in southeast Georgia and borders the Atlantic Ocean at its southeastern corner . It has an area of ​​1,561 square kilometers, of which 216 square kilometers are water and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Bryan County , McIntosh County , Long County , Tattnall County and Evans County .

The county is part of the Hinesville – Fort Stewart metropolitan area .

history

Liberty County was formed on February 5, 1777 as Original County from the parishes of St. Andrews, St. James and St. John.

According to the 2010 census, the 63,453 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 22,155 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.75 people per household. There are a total of 26,731 households.
