The county is located in northwest Georgia, borders Alabama to the west and has an area of ​​808 square kilometers, of which three square kilometers are water, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Floyd County , Bartow County , Paulding County, and Haralson Counties .

history

Polk County was formed on December 20, 1851 from parts of Floyd County and Paulding County. It was named after James K. Polk , the 11th President of the United States.
