The McIntosh County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Darien , named after Fort Darien .

The county is located in southeast Georgia, borders the Atlantic Ocean and has an area of ​​1,488 square kilometers, of which 365 square kilometers are water and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Liberty County , Glynn County , Wayne County and Long County .

The county is part of the metropolitan area of ​​Brunswick .

history

McIntosh County was formed on December 19, 1793 as the 17th County of Georgia from parts of Liberty County. It was named after the McIntosh Clan who first explored the area.

The average annual income per household was 45,248 USD , while 20.1% of the population lived below the poverty line.
