The Long County is a county in the US state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Ludowici , named after the Ludowici Roof Tile brickworks and the German immigrant Carl Ludowici who did fundamental work in building the high school system in America.

The county is located in southeast Georgia, about 50 km off the Atlantic Ocean, and has an area of 1,045 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers are water, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Liberty County , McIntosh County , Wayne County, and Tattnall Counties .
The county is part of the Hinesville – Fort Stewart metropolitan area .
history
Long County was formed on August 14, 1920 as the 157th County of Georgia from parts of Liberty County. It was named after Dr. Crawford W. Long a pioneer of anesthesia and modern applied medicine.

According to the 2010 census, the 14,464 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 5,023 inhabited households, which results in an average of 2.81 people per household. There are a total of 6,039 households.
72.7% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring) with an average size of 3.28 persons. There were children under the age of 18 in 44.2% of all households and persons aged 65 or over in 15.2% of all households.
33.5% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 30.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 25.0% were 40 to 59 years old, and 11.2% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 31 years. 49.5% of the population were male and 50.5% were female.
62.4% of the population identified themselves as whites, 25.2% as African American , 0.6% as Indians and 0.8% as Asian Americans . 7.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.4% to several ethnic groups. 12.3% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
The average annual income per household was 50,848 USD , while 16.2% of the population lived below the poverty line.
