The Chatham County is located in the US state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Savannah .

The county is located in southeast Georgia, borders the Atlantic Ocean to the east and South Carolina to the northeast . It has an area of 1638 square kilometers, of which 503 square kilometers are water and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Bryan County and Effingham County .
The county is part of the metropolitan area of Savannah .
history
Chatham County was formed on February 5, 1777 as the third county in Georgia from Christ Church Parish and parts of St. Phillip's Parish . It was named after the British Prime Minister William Pitt, 1st Earl of Chatham .

Savannah
- In Savannah is the historic Juliette Gordon Low Historic District . It comprises three buildings ( Wayne-Gordon House: First Girl Scout Headquarters , Andrew Low House and the Carriage House ) and was listed on October 15, 1966 by the National Register of Historic Places as a historic monument with the number 66000276. It is also listed on the National Historic Landmark .

Tybee Island

According to the 2010 census, the then 265,128 inhabitants were distributed over 103,038 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.45 people per household. There are a total of 119,323 households.
62.7% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring) with an average size of 3.03 persons. There were children under the age of 18 in 31.3% of all households and persons aged 65 and over in 23.4% of all households.
26.2% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 31.1% were 20 to 39 years old, 24.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 17.8% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 34 years. 48.2% of the population were male and 51.8% were female.
52.8% of the population identified themselves as whites, 40.1% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 2.4% as Asian Americans . 2.3% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.1% to several ethnic groups. 5.4% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .
