The Haralson County is a county in the US state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Buchanan , named after President James Buchanan .

The county is located in northwest Georgia, borders Alabama to the west and has an area of 733 square kilometers, of which three square kilometers are water and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Polk County , Paulding County and Carroll County .
history
Haralson County was formed on January 26, 1856 as the 112th County in Georgia from parts of Carroll County and Polk Counties. It was named after General Hugh A. Haralson , a member of Congress and an officer in the state militia.
The county is part of the metropolitan area of Atlanta .
