The Telfair County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is McRae-Helena .

The county is located in central southeast Georgia and covers an area of ​​1,150 square kilometers, of which eight square kilometers are water, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Wheeler County , Jeff Davis County , Coffee County , Ben Hill County , Wilcox County, and Dodge County .

history

Telfair County was formed on December 10, 1807 as the 35th County of Georgia. It was named after Edward Telfair , a native Scotsman and governor of Georgia.
