The Union County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Blairsville .

The county is located in the far north of Georgia, borders North Carolina and has an area of 852 square kilometers, of which 17 square kilometers are water surface and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Towns County , White County , Lumpkin County and Fannin County .
history
Union County was formed on December 3, 1832 as the 88th County in Georgia from the Cherokee Indian Territory. It was named not after its support for the north in the civil war, but after the Union Party , which had existed for 28 years before the civil war broke out.

According to the 2010 census, the 21,356 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 9,116 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.30 people per household. There are a total of 14,052 households.
