The Coweta County is located in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Newnan , named after Daniel Newnan , a general in the great Indian War of 1812.

Located in the mid-northwest, about 25 miles from Alabama to the west, the county covers 1,155 square kilometers, nine square kilometers of which are water, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Fulton County , Fayette County , Spalding County , Meriwether County , Troup County , Heard County, and Carroll County .
The county is part of the metropolitan area of Atlanta .
history
Coweta County was formed as the 67th County of Georgia on June 9, 1825. It was named after the Coweta Indians, a branch of the Creek Indians.

According to the 2010 census, the then 127,317 inhabitants were distributed over 45,673 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.77 people per household. There are a total of 50,171 households.
76.1% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring) with an average size of 3.18 persons. There were children under the age of 18 in 41.0% of all households and persons aged 65 and over in 20.9% of all households.
29.8% of the population were younger than 20 years, 25.5% were 20 to 39 years old, 29.0% were 40 to 59 years old, and 15.9% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 37 years. 48.9% of the population were male and 51.1% were female.
75.9% of the population identified themselves as white, 17.3% as African American , 0.3% as Native American and 1.5% as Asian Americans . 3.0% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.1% to several ethnic groups. 6.7% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
The average annual income per household was 61,662 USD , while 13.0% of the population lived below the poverty line.
