The Screven County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Sylvania .

The county is located in the far east of Georgia, on the border with South Carolina and has an area of ​​1,698 square kilometers, of which 18 square kilometers are water surface and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Effingham County , Bulloch County , Jenkins County and Burke County .

history

Screven County was formed on December 14, 1793 as the 14th County of Georgia from parts of Burke County and Effingham County. It was named after General James Screven , who was mortally wounded in the Revolutionary War. Screven County later became Bulloch County and Jenkins Counties.
