The Rockdale County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Conyers .

The county is located in north-central Georgia and covers an area of 342 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers are water surface, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Walton County , Newton County , Henry County , DeKalb County, and Gwinnett County .
The county is part of the metropolitan area of Atlanta .
history
Rockdale County was formed on October 18, 1870 as the 133rd County in Georgia from parts of Henry County and Newton County. It was named after the Rockdale Church.

According to the 2010 census, the then 85,215 inhabitants were distributed over 30,027 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.81 people per household. There are a total of 33,272 households.
75.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring) with an average size of 3.23 persons. Children under the age of 18 lived in 40.5% of all households and persons aged 65 or over in 22.0% of all households.
29.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 24.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 29.4% were 40 to 59 years old, and 16.2% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 37 years. 47.6% of the population were male and 52.4% were female.
44.8% of the population identified themselves as whites, 46.4% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 1.8% as Asian Americans . 4.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.1% to several ethnic groups. 9.5% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
The average annual income per household was 51,072 USD , while 17.2% of the population lived below the poverty line.
