Fritz Schösser (born June 24, 1947 in Töging am Inn ; † May 28, 2019 in Munich ) was a German member of the Bundestag from 1998 to 2005 of the Bavarian SPD . In addition, Schösser was chairman of the DGB district of Bavaria from 1990 to February 12, 2010 . In the German Bundestag, Fritz Schösser was a member of the Committee on Health and Social Security. Schösser was married and had two children.

After secondary school, Schösser completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk .

Political career

In the elections to the 16th German Bundestag Schösser did not run again.

Positions

For Schösser, Nazism was closely interwoven with the conservative bourgeoisie. In his eyes, this applied to current neo-Nazism as well as to historical National Socialism : "The widespread and deceptive hope that Nazism is over once and for all is not infrequently based on a complete misjudgment of National Socialism [...] The German bourgeoisie, Conservative parties and bourgeois scholars see the "Third Reich" as a historic industrial accident: They pretend that a couple of brown criminals from a strange planet had landed with us in 1933 [...] In contrast, we state soberly: National Socialism is taking down deep roots in the German history of the 19th and 20th centuries. It was historically programmed for a long time. It grew with decades of approval, not just toleration, of the German bourgeoisie, promoted by large-scale industry and high finance, approved by essential parts of the official churches. " The bourgeoisie, "the so-called middle class", and the "magnates of big money feared the onslaught of the working masses on property and property and financed a strong man who could bind the working masses."

Working outside of politics

Fritz Schösser was active in various organizations and self-governing bodies, for example:

  • Alternating chairman of the supervisory board of the AOK federal association
  • Member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance (GKV SV)

As a representative of the basic idea of social partnership , Schösser has long been involved in the self-administration of statutory health insurance in Germany. In 2003 he took up his position as alternate chairman of the board of directors of the AOK federal association. From 2009, after a change in the legal form of the AOK Federal Association, he was elected alternate chairman of the supervisory board. Between 1993 and 2016, as chairman of AOK Bayern, he also represented the interests of those with statutory health insurance.

During Schösser's active AOK time, there were far-reaching changes that noticeably changed the AOK community and statutory health insurance. Among other things, the AOK Federal Association moved its headquarters from Bonn to Berlin in 2008 and was converted into a company under civil law . During this time, the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds came into being . After 16 years at the head of self-government, Fritz Schösser retired from his offices in 2017.
