The town of Töging am Inn is bordered by the municipalities of Erharting ( district of Mühldorf am Inn ) and Pleiskirchen (district of Altötting) in the north, the town of Mühldorf am Inn (district of Mühldorf am Inn) in the west, and the communities of Polling (near Mühldorf am Inn) in the south. history

Antiquity

In 1959, parts of a Roman road structure were exposed, as well as a small square structure that is associated with a Roman bridge station. The Roman Turum, which was partially associated with Töging, was probably not here, but near Dorfen.

Middle Ages and Modern Times

The place is known as "Teginingun" as early as 1050, probably derived from the personal name "Tegino" or "Tagino" ( Salzburger Urkundenbuch I, 242), around 1300 an "ampt ze Tegning" is mentioned in a list of goods.

As a lordly Hofmark , Töging belonged to the Burghausen Rent Office and the Neuötting Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria . With the parish edict of 1818, today's parish came into being.

Industrialization: from village to city

Industrialization began in 1917 with the establishment of the Töging power station and the aluminum factory (operations began in 1924) by Innwerk, Bayerische Aluminum AG . On September 23, 1972, the elevation to the city took place. The aluminum smelter gradually ceased operations in 1993/96.

Coat of arms history: The sword points to a bronze sword from the Celtic period found near Töging . The lightning bolts that rise from the water symbolize the water power that is converted into electrical energy in the Töging power station . In the 1920s, Töging grew from a farming village to an industrial settlement and finally to a town due to the industry that settled here with the aluminum works and the specially built hydroelectric power plant.

In 1882 the Bavarian State Railways set up a stop in Töging on the Munich – Simbach railway line, which has existed since 1871 . Honorary citizen of the city

  • Kaspar Marschall (1885–1960), clergyman, headed the Expositur from 1921 until his death , then the parish of St. Johann Baptist.
