history

Kirchweidach is mentioned for the first time in the Notitia Arnonis as ad Uuidaha around 788. It has always belonged to the Duchy of Bavaria , namely to the dominion of Wald. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria in 1818, Kirchweidach became an independent political municipality, which was called Kichweihdach until 1870 . In 1896 the church branch in Kirchweidach was separated from the mother parish of Feichten an der Alz and raised to the status of an independent parish . On January 1, 1978, the districts of Aderleiten, Berg, Biburg, Brandhub, Feller, Grub, Hütting, Kielhub, Mitterwinkl, Neukirchen, Niederhofen, Oberwinkl, Reisachberg, Schachen, Wagenhofen and Wiesen from the dissolved municipality of Hirten took place. Since May 1, 1978 Kirchweidach has been the seat of the administrative community Kirchweidach consisting of the independent communities Kirchweidach, Feichten an der Alz, Halsbach and Tyrlaching .

The rose-colored baroque parish church of St. Vitus is worth seeing in Kirchweidach . The second patron saint of the church and the community is Leonhard, in whose honor the well-known Leonhardiritt is held every year at the beginning of November , to which riders from a wide area come to have their horses blessed.

The community has been attracting national and international attention since 2010 with the local deep geothermal project .
