Coat of arms history

The black lion in the golden field was taken from the old Salzburg coat of arms and refers to the very old relationship with Salzburg. Feichten is documented in 815 as “Fiuhtan” in connection with a transfer of ownership to the church in Salzburg that took place before 789. The spruce in the lion's paws speaks for the community name; Feichten is derived from "spruce" and is to be interpreted as a "settlement near the spruce". At the same time, the spruce alludes to its historical affiliation with the forest dominion. The wave bar refers to the location of the municipality on the Alz and the corresponding name affix that has been used since 1963.
