The church, documented in 1320, was rebuilt around 1500 with the continued existence of Romanesque nave walls made of tuff stone as a building block. The tuff stone construction is attributed to the Burghauser Bauhütte . The hall church with a two-bay, non-retracted choir with three-eighth closure has a saddle tower in the south of the choir. Struts hold the north and west outer walls. The southern porch was added in 1728. In 1923, a larger neo-baroque basilica complex with a crossing octagon under a high dome was added to the north by the architect Richard Steidle from Munich. The church was renovated from 1976 to 1980.

The Gothic church with a star vault in the choir and a reticulated vault in the nave was connected to the 1923 extension with arcade openings as the southern transept. A building inscription in the choir was uncovered in 1968/1969 and reconstructed with Claus von Colmer (?) In 1507 . In the new extension, the walls and the dome were painted using Secco technology from 1930 to 1932 by the painter Johann Georg Kölnsperger from Munich.

Furnishing

In the old church there is a Sorrowful Mother of God from the beginning of the 18th century in the apex of the choir. In the Gothic nave over the arcades to the extension is a rosary Madonna from the 17th century with late Baroque figures of the two hll. Johannes from Albaching .

In the new extension, the furnishings are neo-baroque with baroque figures by the sculptor Engelbert Hein and the barrel painter Peter Keilhacker. The high altar was built in 1923 based on a design by Hermann Buchert. The side altars are from 1927/1928. The left side altar bears a figure of the crescent moon Madonna from the 1st half of the 17th century, with a child added around 1600. The right side altar bears a figure of St. Joseph from the 1st half of the 17th century.
