The Early County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Blakely .

The county is located in southwest Georgia, borders Alabama to the west and is about 25 miles from the northern border of Florida to the south. It has an area of 1,337 square kilometers , of which 13 square kilometers are water and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Clay County , Calhoun County , Baker County , Miller County and Seminole County .
history
Early County was formed on December 15, 1818 as the 41st County of Georgia from former land of the Creek Indians as Original County. It was named after Peter Early , a Georgia governor, member of Congress and chairman of the Supreme Court.
The following counties were formed from the area of Early County: Calhoun County , Clay County , Decatur County , Dougherty County , Grady County , Miller County , Mitchell County and Seminole County .

According to the 2010 census, the then 11,008 inhabitants were distributed over 4,228 inhabited households, which results in an average of 2.56 people per household. There are a total of 4,975 households.
69.2% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring) with an average size of 3.12 persons. There were children under the age of 18 in 34.9% of all households and persons aged 65 or over in 31.2% of all households.
29.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 21.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 22.2% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 39 years. 47.2% of the population were male and 52.8% were female.
48.4% of the population identified themselves as whites, 49.6% as African-Americans , 0.4% as Indians and 0.3% as Asian Americans . 0.5% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.8% to several ethnic groups. 1.6% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
The average annual income per household was 35,000 USD , while 27.3% of the population lived below the poverty line.
