The Worth County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is New Years Eve .

The county is located in south-central Georgia, about 50 miles to the south from Florida's northern border and has an area of 1,488 square kilometers, of which 13 square kilometers are water surface and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Crisp County , Turner County , Tift County , Colquitt County , Mitchell County , Dougherty County, and Lee County .

The county is part of the Albany metropolitan area .

history

Worth County was formed on December 20, 1853 from parts of Dooly County and Irwin County. It was named after General William J. Worth , who fought in the Texan-Mexican War.
