The Douglas County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Douglasville .
geography
The county is located in northwest Georgia, about 25 miles to the west from the eastern border of Alabama , covers an area of 519 square kilometers, of which two square kilometers are water, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Cobb County , Fulton County , Carroll County and Paulding County .
The county is part of the metropolitan area of Atlanta .
history
Douglas County was formed on October 17, 1870 from parts of Carroll County and a small part of Cherokee County. It was named, like Douglasville, after Stephen A. Douglas , a member of Congress and rival of Abraham Lincoln during the presidential candidacy.

According to the 2010 census, the 132,403 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 46,624 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.81 people per household. There are a total of 51,672 households.

31.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.2% were 20 to 39 years old, 28.5% were 40 to 59 years old, and 13.1% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 35 years. 48.2% of the population were male and 51.8% were female.
52.5% of the population identified themselves as whites, 39.5% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 1.4% as Asian Americans . 3.9% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.4% to several ethnic groups. 8.4% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
The average annual income per household was 52,997 USD , while 16.2% of the population lived below the poverty line.
