The Schley County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Ellaville , named after the daughter of the man who made the land available for the city.

Located in west central Georgia, about 70 km from the Alabama border, the county covers 453 square kilometers, one square kilometer of which is water, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Taylor County , Macon County , Sumter County, and Marion Counties .
history
Schley County was formed on December 22, 1857 as the 122nd County in Georgia from parts of Marion County and Sumter County. It was named after William Schley , a governor of Georgia.
